Gannon Women's Water Polo Opens Season With Loss at Bucknell

The Short Story: The Gannon Women's Water Polo team fell in its first match of the season to Bucknell, 15-6, in Lewisburg, Pa. on Friday night (Feb. 10).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bucknell jumped out to a 5-2 advantage after the first quarter.
Amanda Puthoff and Christine Uht (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) scored both of the Lady Knights first-quarter goals.
Liz Barr (Honolulu, Hawaii/'Iolani School) scored the first of her two goals in the second quarter.
Bucknell led 10-3 at halftime.
Barr came back in the third period and notched her second of back-to-back goals for the Lady Knights.
At the 5:17 mark of the fourth quarter, Francesca Williamson (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) tallied her first goal of the season.
Grace Villano (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) scored Gannon's final goal with in the waning minutes of the game. Bucknell led 15-6 and would go on to win by the same score.

GAME NOTES

Bucknell was ranked seventh in the latest CWPA Top 10 poll released February 8.
The Bison are receiving votes in the top 25 national poll.
Gannon faces three opponents in the Bison Invitational that are receiving votes in the national poll.

The Lady Knights return to the water on Saturday, Feb. 11, against George Washington and Wagner.
