  • The Short Story: The No. 9 Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team took home the gold in the seven element heat of the acro event, but fell short against No. 5 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and No. 6 Fairmont State Thursday night during a tri-meet at FSU's Joe Retton Arena.

MEET NOTES
  • Gannon posted higher scores than Fairmont State in the acro (28.70-28.45), pyramid (29.60-29.50) and toss (27.90-27.60) events.
  • Despite the three event wins against the Falcons, the Lady Knights was unable to take the lead after falling behind by two points during the opening compulsory event.

BEYOND THE SCORESHEET
  • Gannon was ranked No. 9 in the latest National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) coaches' poll released March 4.
  • Azusa Pacific was tabbed No. 5 in the NCATA coaches' poll while Fairmont State ranked sixth.
  • Thursday's tri-meet was Gannon's first of the season.
  • Gannon's team event score of 95.60 represented a season-best. It was the program's third-best team event score in its three-year history and highest since receiving a 98.43 during a 277.19-241.7 home victory against Adrian (Mich.) on April 4, 2014. 
  • The Lady Knights began the season 2-0 for the first time in the program's three-year existence, but have dropped their last three decisions.
  • Gannon failed to win the acro five element and pyramid flip heats for the first time this season.
  • The Lady Knights fell to 0-4 all-time against Fairmont State and 0-2 against Azusa Pacific, but Thursday's scoring margins were the smallest in the history of both series.

  • Gannon has eight days off before returning to action Saturday, March 19 by hosting Oregon and King (Tenn.) at the Hammermill Center.
  • The tri meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
  • Oregon was tabbed second in the latest NCATA coaches' poll while King was listed eighth.
  • Gannon dropped a 281.05-248.885 decision against Oregon during the only previous meeting at the Fairmont State Tri-Meet on March 24, 2014.
