The Short Story: Both sophomore Christopher Matthews (Kennerdell, Pa./Franklin) and true freshman Jake Stratton (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) picked up a pair of victories Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division I-dominated Edinboro Open.

174 - Matthews finished 2-2 at 174 ... after an opening loss to Dominic Rigous of NCAA Division I Clarion, Matthews rebounded with a 3-2 victory against Robert Mannier of NCAA Division I Navy and a 7-4 win against Austin Coniker of NCAA Division I Columbia ... the run came to an end with a setback against Dillon Artgliere of Finger Lakes ... Matthews has won five of his last seven matches after winning the Jamestown Jayhawk Open last Sunday with a 3-0 record.
184 - Stratton posted a 2-2 record at 184 ... after an opening loss to Fred Garcia of NCAA Division I Lock Haven, Stratton countered with a pin of Mercyhurst's Anthony McCorry in 2:22 and a forfeit victory against Nicholas Weldon of NCAA Division I Penn State ... Stratton's day came to an end with a loss to Jacob Davis of NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan.

Gannon concludes its PSAC schedule Wednesday, February 11 against No. 7 Mercyhurst at the Hammermill Center. First bell is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fans will want to get there early as the 125-pound match pits a pair of nationally-ranked wrestlers. Turek is ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II and No. 1 in NCAA Division II Super Region One. Mercyhurst's Willie Bohince is No. 4 in NCAA Division II and No. 2 in NCAA Division II Super Region One.
Four other bouts could have regionally-ranked wrestlers facing off.
At 133, top-ranked Ryan Bohince (MU) could face fourth-ranked Aaron Smith (GU).
At 149, top-ranked Jeremy Landowski could wrestle fourth-ranked Eric Lewandowski (GU).
