LEXINGTON, Va. - The Gannon women's water polo team completed a sweep of the Notre Dame (Ohio) Falcons and the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on day two of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Invitational Saturday at the Clark King Pool. The Lady Knights opened the day with a 12-7 victory over the Falcons before defeating the Presidents by the score of 15-3. The Lady Knights improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Falcons fell to 0-5 and the Presidents dropped to 0-2.
Compiling five total assists on the day, senior
Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) became the all-time career assists leader in program history, compiling 120 career helpers to pass former Lady Knight Rishae Wood. With two assists in the win over the Falcons, Jacobs tied Wood at 117 career assists before taking sole possession atop the all-time list with three helpers in the 15-3 victory over the Presidents.
The Lady Knights captured their sixth consecutive victory over Notre Dame (Ohio). Earlier this season, the Lady Knights dominated the Falcons on Feb. 8 in a 21-10 win.
To open the match, the Lady Knights held the Falcons scoreless in the opening frame by taking a 5-0 lead. The Lady Knights extended their advantage to 8-2 heading into the break. In the final two quarters of the match, the Falcons outscored the Lady Knights, 5-4. For the Falcons, they were unable to overcome the Lady Knights' early lead through the first two quarters, which provided Gannon insurance to seal the 12-7 victory.

Emily Rodriguez (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) registered 10 blocks to record her second career win.
In the second game of the day, Gannon held Washington & Jefferson to three goals. Entering the meeting, the Presidents received votes in the latest Division III Poll and are ranked second in the CWPA Division III Poll.
Holding a 2-1 edge following a close first quarter, the Lady Knights stormed out to a 7-2 lead at the half. The Lady Knights extended their advantage to 9-3 at the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, the Lady Knights erupted for six unanswered goals in the final frame to earn a 15-3 win over the Presidents.
McDaniels led the Lady Knights with four goals followed by Uht with three. Jacobs, Rzymek, Gajewski and Lazenby each scored a pair of goals to round the Lady Knights' offensive attack.
Improving to 3-2 on the season, Rodriguez recorded eight blocks to secure the Lady Knights' victory.
Gannon concludes the VMI Invitational Sunday, March 2 with a pair of games. The Lady Knights open the day against the host Keydets at 8 a.m. before closing their time at the Invitational against Penn State Behrend at 11 a.m.
