ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men's water polo team handed Notre Dame College (Ohio) a 17-11 loss Saturday afternoon at Penn State Behrend. 

Greg Nelson (Homewood, Ill. / Homewood-Flossmoor) opened the scoring for Gannon with a goal less than two minutes in. After one Notre Dame goal, the Golden Knights scored three times in less than a minute to lead 4-1. Gannon would hold a 6-3 advantage after the first quarter and lead by a score of 10-5 at the half. 

Gannon was able to blank Notre Dame in third quarter and extend its lead to 15-5 with two goals from Daisuke Takagi (Tsukuba, Japan / Namiki). 

Notre Dame made a strong effort in the fouth quarter, out-scoring Gannon 6-2, but a pair of goals from Tytus Kwiatkowski (Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North) put the game out of reach. 

Nelson, Takagi and Phil Myrick (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Prep) all finished with three goals for the Golden Knights. Greg Naranjo (Coral Springs, Fla. / Stoneman Douglas) and Alex Bollman (Mason, Ohio / Mason) each added two goals. Patrick Muniz led Notre Dame College with five goals. 

Neal Zoellick (Homewood, Ill. / Homewood-Flossmoor) had six saves while Deven Williams (Fort Lauderdale, Fla. / Alvin, Tx.) had five saves for Gannon
Gannon will host a doubleheader tomorrow facing off against Salem International at 11 a.m. before taking on Penn State Behrend at 2 p.m.
