Gannon Defeats Fresno Pacific 17-12 to Capture Third Place at WWPA Men's Champiomship

Three Golden Knights named to All-Tournament Team

GENEVA, Ohio – For the second time in three years the Gannon men's water polo team captured third place at the WWPA Men's Championship. One day after dropping an 11-9 decision to Biola in the semifinals the Golden Knights started fast and held off Fresno Pacific for a 17-12 win. Gannon hosted the 2025 WWPA Men's Championship at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Head coach Zarko Sadikovic's team, the No. 1 seed from the East Region, struggled on the attack on Saturday but they came out fast against No. 3W Fresno Pacific. The Sunbirds scored the opening goal of the match two-and-a-half minutes in but Gannon ran off the next four goals and never led by fewer than two goals after leading 4-2 after one period. They expanded the advantage to 8-4 at the half and held a 12-6 lead after three periods.

Gannon finishes its third year in the WWPA with a third-place finish in 2023 and fourth place a year ago.
