ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Gannon women's water polo team lost two matches at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division Championships Saturday. The Lady Knights lost to the host Michigan 17-3 and then fell to Mercyhurst 12-6 in the third-place contest at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

Against UM, the Knights trailed 6-1 through one quarter and 10-1 at the half. The Wolverines tacked on seven more scores in the second half for the 14-goal win. Sarah Anderson (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda), and Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each had a goal for GU. Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) and Libbie Guina (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook) both made two saves in net. 

Gannon took a 2-0 lead after one period against Mercyhurst. The Lakers exploded for four second-quarter scores to tie the contest at halftime. The Hurst outscored GU 5-1 in the third and 3-1 in the fourth on its way to a 12-6 win. Harriger scored four goals, while Greenhill and Mallery Casale (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) added a goal apiece. Bartman recorded seven blocks. 

The Knights closed the 2010 season with a 9-21 record.
