GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Gannon women's water polo team managed one goal or less in three of four quarters and fell 8-5 in the regular-season finale Saturday evening at Grove City. Gannon was among others receiving votes in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I/II poll while Grove City entered the match as the top-ranked team in the latest CWPA Division III poll.
Grove City held a 3-1 edge after one quarter, before Gannon cut the deficit to 5-4 at the intermission. The Wolverines shut out the Ladyn Knights 2-0 in the third quarter and both teams managed only one goal each in the final eight minutes.
Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) tallied two of Gannon's five goals.
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda),
Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Sarah Anderson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) chipped in one goal each.
Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) recorded nine saves in front of the net.
Gannon completed the regular season with a 9-19 record. Grove City improved to 13-10. The Lady Knights return to action Saturday, April 24 at the CWPA Western Division Championships hosted by the University of Michigan.
