ANN ARBOR, Mich.- The Gannon women's water polo team split contests with Siena and Grove City Saturday at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Siena won 7-4 before GU beat Grove City 9-5.
Against Grove City, the Lady Knights went up 2-1 after one period. The Wolverines tied the match 4-4 at halftime. Gannon bounced back in the second half, outscoring GCC 3-1 in the third and then 2-1 in the fourth frame.
Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) posted five goals and
Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored four times to lead the offense.
Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) made 12 saves in net.
Siena took a 2-0 lead after one quarter and led 4-0 at the break. Each team scored twice in the third and GU won the final period 2-1.
Andrews scored two goals. Harriger and
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) added a goal each. Bartman made one save and
Libbie Guina (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook) recorded three stops in net.
Gannon concludes action at the Wolverine Invitational Sunday, March 14. The Knights play Iona at noon.
