Ranked sixth in NCAA Division II Super Region One, Budd knocked off the 10th-ranked heavyweight in the country and region's second-ranked heavyweight in Kutztown's Ryan Appleby during Gannon's only action of the week. Budd never trailed during the bout, beginning with a first-period takedown. The redshirt junior recorded two takedowns, an escape and riding-time point. He gave Gannon a commanding 28-4 lead at the time with two matches remaining. Budd improved to 12-7 overall and 5-2 in dual action. Kutztown is ranked 25th in NCAA Division II and sixth in NCAA Division II Super Region One. Gannon is ranked fifth regionally and listed among others receiving votes in the latest national poll. The Golden Knights snapped a six-meet losing streak against the Golden Bears, winning for the first time in the series since a 37-3 verdict at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on February 7, 2009. Gannon wrestled its fourth nationally-ranked team this season, improving to 3-1 in those meets. The Golden Knights' 25-point victory was their largest since posting a 31-6 win against West Liberty at the Hammermill Center on February 13, 2015.
