Biography

Bowers is expected to start at the 133-pound spot … transferred from Mercyhurst North East prior to the 2007-08 campaign.

2008-09: Redshirted … went 5-4 while wrestling unattached … recorded two pins at the University of Buffalo Open … went 2-2 at the Ashland Open … finished with the eighth-most wins on the team … compiled five pins, second most on the team.


2007-08: Went 24-10 overall during his first season at Gannon … was Gannon’s top wrestler at 133 … tied for third on the team in victories … posted a 7-1 dual record, tying for second on the team in that category … had the squad’s best dual match winning percentage (.875) … ended six matches via a pin, the fourth highest total on the team … earned first career victory at the University of Buffalo Open … won the Ashland Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record … finished fifth at the Ashland Open (4-1) and Midwest Classic (4-2) … picked up a victory during his first “War at the Shore” appearance against rival Mercyhurst … won last five dual decisions against Pitt-Johnstown, West Liberty State, Shippensburg, Ashland, and Limestone (S.C.) … advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships by winning a true fourth-place match at the NCAA Division II East Regionals, where he won four of six bouts … recorded two pins at the regionals.

At Mercyhurst North East: Wrestled for head coach Chris Elliot … was a two-time NJCAA All-American and two-time regional champion.

High School: Wrestled for head coach Rex Miller at Chesapeake (Md.) High School … won the Maryland state championship in 2004 … was a four-time county champion and two-time regional champion … received the “Most Outstanding Wrestler” award at the 2004 MJJ Mount Mat Madness Tournament.

Personal: Business major … has one brother … son of Deborah and Dale Bowers.
