Biography

McGrath is expected to start the season as the number one option in the heavyweight class … enters the season ninth all-time at Gannon with 21 career pins … transferred from Division I Air Force prior to the 2006-07 season.

2008-09: Was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete … went 32-8 overall, recording the second-most victories on the team … was perfect in 10 dual matches … recorded a team-high 14 pins, equaling the sixth-highest single-season total in school history … posted the fourth-highest single-season victory total in school history, as well as the 17th-most dual victories in a season all-time at Gannon … became one of six wrestlers in school history with at least five decisions to go unblemished in dual action … went 4-1 at the Buffalo Open, placing second … won the National Catholic Invitational, going 3-0 … finished third at the PSAC Championships, going 3-1 with two pins … went 4-1 with two pins en route to a third-place finish at the Midwest Classic … won matches via a pin and a technical decision at the Virginia Duals … recorded a pin that won a dual match against West Liberty State … advanced to the NCAA Division II East Regional heavyweight finals, qualifying for the national championships with a second-place finish … earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division II National Championships, finishing fifth in the heavyweight division … won four of six matches at the national championships.

2007-08: Was one of two wrestlers to compete at heavyweight … was fifth on the team in victories (22) … started every dual match for Gannon, finishing 8-3 … finished fourth at the NCAA Division II East Regional, qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships … placed fourth with a 3-2 record, ending one match via a pin … opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the University of Buffalo Open, winning two of three matches … won the National Catholic Invitational by winning all four matches … finished second at the Ashland Invitational and seventh at the Midwest Classic … began the dual season with four consecutive victories against Mercyhurst North East, rival Mercyhurst, NCAA Division I Wagner, and Brockport … led Gannon to a 24-23 victory over rival Mercyhurst at “War at the Shore” by pinning his opponent in the final bout of the match … added dual victories against West Liberty State, Shippensburg, Ashland, and Seton Hill.

2006-07: Redshirted during his first season at Gannon ... was 8-4 with one pin before suffering a season-ending injury ... opened the season with a fifth-place finish at the University of Buffalo Open, posting a 4-2 record.
