Biography

DeVita returns as one of Gannon’s starters in 2016 … has started games as an outfielder, second baseman and shortstop during his collegiate career … enters his senior campaign 12th all-time at Gannon since 2000 in assists (148).

2015: Was one of three Golden Knights to start all 44 games … named a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete … moved from the outfield to shortstop after an injury to starting shortstop Bobby Roach … started one game at second base and 43 at shortstop … recorded 108 assists, representing the 12th-highest single-season total in program history … led Gannon in doubles (13) … finished second on the team in stolen bases (9), third in runs (24), third in walks (11), fourth in total bases (56), fourth in slugging percentage (.434) and fifth in hits (35) … hit .348 (8-23) against left-handers, .333 with runners on base (16-72) and .324 (12-37) with runners in scoring position … drove in a run 37.5 percent (3-8) of the time when hitting with a runner on third base and less than two outs … recorded six two-out RBIs … produced nine multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI efforts … named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week on April 29 after going 8-for-15 with four runs, five RBIs, three doubles, one home run and three stolen bases during a four-game series against Indiana (Pa.) … ended the season with a five-game hitting streak, producing a .556 average (10-18) during the final five contests … raised his average 83 points during the final 17 games … hit .385 (20-52) during the 17-game stretch, posting a hit in 13 of those contests … produced a season-high seven-game hit streak March 7-20 … hit .476 (10-21) with eight runs, seven RBIs and six doubles during the streak … belted his first career home run during a 6-2 victory against Pitt-Johnstown … concluded the UPJ contest 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs … went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs during a 10-4 win against Indiana (Pa.), hitting his second home run in the process … concluded the IUP doubleheader 5-for-8 with three runs, five RBIs, two doubles and one home run … scored multiple runs in a game six times … ended the season with 12 consecutive errorless games, a span of 33 fielding opportunities.

2013: Played in 23 games, starting 15 … named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete … started nine games at second base and six at shortstop … led the team in average (.333) … ranked third on the team in slugging percentage (.444) … hit .400 (10-25) against right-handers, .348 (8-23) with runners on base, .357 (5-14) with runners in scoring position and .556 (10-18) with two outs … had four multiple-hit games … recorded his first career hit against Findlay during the second day of the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida … went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double and one stolen base during a 9-0 victory at Lock Haven … tied his season-high in hits two games later during a 9-7 win at Indiana (Pa.) … had a 3-for-4 showing with one run, one RBI and one double against the Crimson Hawks … went 2-for-3 at Mercyhurst, including his first career triple.

High School: Played for head coach Nate Buttenfield at North Hills (Pa.) High School … played shortstop and second base during his high school career … hit .381 during his career … was a two-sport athlete, lettering twice in football … named to the all-state and all-conference first teams as a wide receiver … was a placekicker, punter, defensive back and wide receiver on the football field … led Quad-A in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns … was a member of the honor roll.
