Lock Haven, Pa. – Gannon volleyball sophomore Abbey Williams (Chicago, Ill./Mother Mcauley Liberal Arts) has been named the PSAC West Volleyball Athlete of the Week after helping the Golden Knights extend their winning streak to 10 consecutive matches with three victories last week.

The 5-foot-10 Chicago, Ill., native led the Gannon attack with 43 kills over 11 sets, averaging 3.91 kills per set as the Golden Knights went 3-0 with victories over Edinboro, Hillsdale and Ashland.

Gannon opened the week by earning its first PSAC West victory of the season with a sweep of Edinboro before defeating a Hillsdale team that entered the season as the preseason favorite in the G-MAC North Division.

 The Golden Knights closed the week with a four-set victory over Ashland to extend their winning streak to 10 matches.

Williams contributed across the board, adding 34 digs, five service aces and four block assists during the three-match stretch. She averaged 3.09 digs per set and finished the week with a team-high 50 points, averaging 4.55 points per set.

Williams has been a driving force for the Golden Knights this season. She leads Gannon with 169 kills and 200.5 points, averaging a team-best 3.52 kills per set. Williams also leads the team with 22 service aces while ranking second with 140 digs, an average of 2.92 per set.

Williams becomes the second Gannon volleyball player to earn PSAC West Athlete of the Week honors this season.

Gannon owns an 11-2 overall record and has won 10 straight matches after dropping two of its first three contests.
