No. 5 Men’s Basketball Appears in Initial NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – With March Madness fast approaching the NCAA today released its initial set of Division II men's basketball regional rankings. The first week's rankings are only in alphabetical order. The NCAA will announce its first poll ranking the teams on Wednesday, February 21.

Gannon is among the ten teams appearing in the initial NCAA Atlantic Region poll. The Golden Knights are in search of a third straight trip to the Atlantic Regional after advancing to the Elite Eight in 2023-24 and reaching the regional title game a year ago.   

Head coach Easton Bazzoli has guided Gannon to a 22-2 record to date with the Golden Knights riding a nine-game winning streak. Gannon hosts Slippery Rock on Wednesday evening.

In addition to Gannon, the PSAC is represented in the Atlantic Region poll by California (Pa.), East Stroudsburg, Indiana (Pa.), and West Chester. The Mountain East Conference places three teams in the poll, Charleston (W.Va.), Fairmont State, and West Liberty, while Virginia Union and Fayetteville State represent the CIAA.

The NCAA will announce the 64-team field for the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday, March 8.
