ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's soccer team continues to hold a strong position in the NCAA postseason picture, ranking No. 6 in the Atlantic Region and No. 34 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II Power Index (NPI) rankings released Monday.

The Golden Knights, who own a 12-2-3 overall record and an 11-2-2 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action, earned an NPI rating of 57.390. Gannon is among the top teams in the Atlantic Region as the Golden Knights continue their pursuit of an NCAA Tournament berth.

Gannon's regional standing comes as the Golden Knights continue their strong play under 27th-year head coach Colin Petersen. The team is unbeaten in its last 12 matches, most recently battling PSAC West-leading Slippery Rock to a 2-2 draw before celebrating Senior Day with a 3-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Golden Knights have already secured a berth in the PSAC Tournament and enter the final week of the regular season in second place in the PSAC West standings with 35 points, three behind first-place Slippery Rock (38). Gannon remains in contention for the division's regular-season championship while pursuing its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Fairmont State leads the Atlantic Region at No. 7 nationally with an NPI rating of 61.111, followed by West Chester at No. 8, Kutztown at No. 10, Slippery Rock at No. 25 and Frostburg State at No. 32. Gannon rounds out the region's top six, while fellow PSAC members Shepherd (No. 55 nationally) and Millersville (No. 56) occupy the seventh and eighth positions.

The NCAA Power Index is a numerical rating system used to evaluate Division II women's soccer teams for postseason selection. The NPI considers match results and opponent quality to help assess programs across the country. The NPI standings are separate from the NCAA's official regional rankings.

Gannon concludes the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when the Golden Knights travel to Clarion for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Golden Knights will look to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Golden Eagles earlier this season before turning their attention to the PSAC Tournament, which begins next week.
