Second-Half Thriller Ends in 2-2 Draw Between Women’s Soccer and Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – In a battle between the top two teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West, Gannon and Slippery Rock did not disappoint Wednesday afternoon at James Egli Field.
After battling to a draw earlier this season in Erie, the Golden Knights and the Rock traded blows throughout the second half, with Gannon erasing a pair of one-goal deficits to earn a 2-2 draw.

After a scoreless first half that saw the two teams combine for just three shots, the second half was a different story, as the offenses came alive with four goals over the final 45 minutes. The Rock struck first just 72 seconds into the second half, setting the stage for a back-and-forth battle.

The Golden Knights called upon senior captains Grace Emanuel (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Brooklyn Respecki (McKean, Pa./General McLane) to lead the comeback. Emanuel netted the first equalizer in the 72nd minute off an assist from Respecki before Respecki scored the game-tying goal in the 83rd minute to secure the draw.
