The Gannon men's soccer team is ranked sixth in Super Region 1 and second among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams in the first NCAA Division II National Power Index (NPI) rankings, released Monday, Oct. 12.

The Golden Knights, under eighth-year head coach Billy Colton, enter the week with an 8-1-3 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in PSAC West play.

Gannon is also ranked No. 24 nationally with an NPI rating of 56.619.

The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule and quality of opponents.

Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.

Rankings for men's and women's soccer will initially be released every Monday before transitioning to daily updates, Monday through Friday, beginning the week of Oct. 26.

Gannon is one of two PSAC teams ranked among the top six in Super Region 1. Millersville leads the conference at No. 20 nationally, followed by Gannon (No. 24). East Stroudsburg (No. 42) and Shepherd (No. 64) round out the top four PSAC teams in the national rankings.

The Golden Knights return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they host California (Pa.) in a PSAC West matchup at McConnell Family Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
