LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon men's soccer standout
Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) and women's cross country national qualifier
Emily Bowers (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) have been selected as PSAC Fall Top 10 honorees. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced the ten recipients early this afternoon.
The Top 10 Awards, selected by the PSAC's sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as in the arena of competition. The conference designates Top 10 Award winners (five men and five women) after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter, and spring.
To be a candidate for the Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
Orten capped one of the most remarkable careers in Gannon men's soccer history with an extraordinary senior season. He led NCAA Division II in goals (17), ranked among the national top 10 in assists, and finished the year with a team-best 46 points on 17 goals and 12 assists, including four game-winning goals. Orten delivered on the sport's biggest stage, scoring the decisive goal in Gannon's NCAA Tournament first-round win over Bentley and adding another in the Atlantic Regional semifinal against Franklin Pierce.
A dominant force throughout the postseason, Orten was named the D2CCA Ron Lenz All-American Player of the Year, earned D2CCA First Team All-America honors, and collected United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-America recognition. He was also named the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and First Team All-Region, marking his fourth career Atlantic Region honor (First Team: 2023, 2024, 2025; Second Team: 2022). His senior campaign was further highlighted by being named the D2 CIDA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week (Oct. 28, 2025) and PSAC West Athlete of the Week (Oct. 27, 2025).
Emily Bowers' (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) sophomore season was historic and will be widely regarded as one of the best ever by a Gannon women's cross country runner. She qualified for the NCAA National Championships with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional, becoming the first female runner in program history to earn a national championship berth. Bowers went on to place 91st at the NCAA Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
During the season, Bowers also made history as the first Gannon women's runner to claim the individual PSAC title, capturing the championship in a time of 22:17.00. She added another standout performance by placing second out of 46 runners at the Youngstown State meet.
Gannon has now had a total of 39 student-athletes be named to PSAC Top 10 teams.
