Smerick Named to 2025 NFCA All-Atlantic Region First Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gannon University's Emma Smerick (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-Atlantic Region Team. Smerick earned a spot in the outfield and is now a candidate for All-American honors.

Smerick was recently named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year after enjoying an outstanding sophomore campaign. She is now a two-time All-PSAC West first team honoree and became Gannon's first player named PSAC West Athlete of the Year since Jess Rectenwald in 2015.

The sophomore outfielder from Ford City, Pa. led Gannon to a 29-19 finish as the Golden Knights finished second in the Western Division and qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the 14th straight season. She ended the season with a .394 batting average with 61 hits in 155 at bats, both team highs. In addition, she drove in 34 runs, good for third on the team.

While hitting leadoff Smerick displayed a combination of power and speed. She had 11 doubles, a team-leading nine triples, and six home runs, which tied for the team lead. The nine triples is the second-highest season total. Finally, she set a new school record with 35 stolen bases. That gives her a career total of 55 steals in two seasons, tied for second all-time.

Smerick led the team with a .697 slugging percentage and was second in on-base percentage at .469. Her 108 total bases rank fourth in a season. She finished the season with 16 multiple-hit games including a season-high three hits in six games.
