ERIE, Pa. – The hope this weekend for GU is twofold: win, and get all of your games in. With six games spanning just three days and mother nature already putting a stop to part of a doubleheader earlier this week, the Golden Knights are aiming to climb the PSAC West standings in a tight race at the top. All six games this weekend will be on the road, but their twinbill on Thursday against Edinboro will be played at McConnell Family Stadium.

LEADING OFF

History For Smerick - In Tuesday's rain shortened second game against SRU, Emma Smerick (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) set a new program record, when she notched her eighth triple of the year to lead off the game. In addition to setting the single season mark, Smerick leads the team in batting average and hits with 47.

Winning Ways - GU has won nine of their last eleven games to propel their conference record to 12-7. Gannon has scored six or more runs in six of those games.

Top Tier Top Of The Lineup - In addition to Smerick, Gannon's top four hitters all continue to have impressive seasons. Natalia Mallozzi (Woodbridge, Ontario/Father Bressani Catholic) had a hit in the first game against SRU and now has a .400 batting average to go along with 26 RBI's. Meanwhile, Jenna Clontz (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) leads the team in RBI's (28) while Sadie Carroll (North Canton, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) has registered eight doubles.

What An Arm: - Sophomore Katie Armstrong (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) continues to be a menace in the circle. Now 13-4 on the season, Armstrong has thrown six straight complete games and has earned ten or more strikeouts in seven starts this season.

Road Warriors - Eight of the last ten games will be away from home for the Golden Knights. GU will take on D'Youville at home on April 23rd and finish on the road in Clarion next weekend. Gannon owns a 5-5 record in true road games this season.

SCOUTING EDINBORO
The Fighting Scots have struggled this season, carrying a 6-22 record into Thursday's twinbill. Five of those wins have come in conference, including a   doubleheader split with GU on March 18th. Adeline Maguire leads the team with 39 hits and a .406 batting average. The Fighting Scots come in winners of two in a row, sweeping UPJ in a doubleheader on Sunday.

SCOUTING SETON HILL
As of Thursday, the Griffins sit just one game behind the Golden Knights in the western division standings. As of Wednesday, Seton Hill has an eight game winning streak and is 13-5 on their home field. The Griffins are led by Kassidy Wittig & Brooklyn Fukushima, who are first and second on the team for average and have combined for 47 RBI's. Shelby Telegdy is the teams top pitcher, owning a 10-7 record and a 3.30 ERA. Gannon swept Seton Hill at McConnell Family Stadium in a doubleheader back on April 3rd.

SCOUTING CAL (PA)
The Vulcans are .500 at home this season, but have struggled for the majority of the year. They sit just above Edinboro, at fifth in the PSAC West standings. Amarah McCutcheon has a .384 average to lead all hitters, while Makaylia Schlosser's 25 RBI's lead the team. Gannon already owns wins of 7-3 and 4-0 over Cal (PA) this season back on March 29th.
