Parker Named PSAC West Baseball Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its PSAC Baseball Athletes of the Week this afternoon. Gannon's Wes Parker (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was selected the PSAC West Athlete of the Week.

A junior first baseman, Parker made his debut as a Golden Knight during Gannon's spring trip to Florida. A transfer from Toledo, he was forced to miss several games and came off the bench for two at bats against Davis & Elkins. He stroked a double and a triple and the next day was in the starting lineup at first base and hit a home run while driving in three runs against Rockhurst.

All told, Parker hit .500 with 10 hits in 20 at bats in five games, scoring six runs and driving in nine. He had 2 doubles, a triple and 3 home runs for a 1.250 slugging percentage. He also drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 against Point Park and had three hits in six at bats in an 11-7 upset of No. 20 Rollins.

Gannon returns to action this weekend with a four-game set at Grand valley State beginning with a single nine-inning game on Friday, March 14.
