Brisbane, AUS - Former Gannon soccer standout Austin Ludwik signed a professional contract with the Brisbane Roar earlier this month. The Roar are members of the A-League Men in Australia.
Ludwik graduated from Gannon in December of 2020 and was a key piece of the defense while with the Golden Knights. He earned all-American status in 2019 while also serving as a team captain.
"Playing at Gannon helped me prepare and progress to the pro game," Ludwik said. "The Gannon men's soccer program is extremely well run, and as close to a professional setup that you can get."
In addition, Ludwik, a native of Gold Coast, Australia, earned the following honors in his collegiate career:
- 2019 PSAC West All-Conference First Team
- 2019 D2CCA Atlantic Region Second Team
- 2019 United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region First Team
- 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team
- 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
- 2019 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East First Team
- 2019 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American
"My advice for graduating players is to continue training and playing at the same intensity you were during your time at GU," said Ludwik. "Don't ever give up. As long as you are enjoying the process and are keeping your body fit, you will be ready to take charge when an opportunity presents itself."
