Retsch, Ujfalvi Named Chick-fil-A Student-Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Women's wrestler Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) and men's swimmer Will Retsch (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of February 23. The Gannon Student-Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Erie.

It was a week filled with many outstanding candidates. Ujfalvi was one of five Golden Knights to win regional titles as Gannon won the NCWWC Region4 championship, the first regional crown for the program.

A native of Hungary, Ujfalvi came away with the crown at 138 lbs. to earn her third trip to Nationals. She is now a two-time regional champion after winning the 143 lb. title a year ago. As a freshman she earned All-American honors. Ujfalvi went 3-0 on the day, winning in a 6-3 decision over Shani Tyson of Frostburg State in the championship.

The Gannon men's swimming team surprised the field in the PSAC Swimming Championships with a second-place finish. The Golden Knights previously finished second in 2012 and 2023.

Many swimmers contributed to the high finish, including Will Retsch (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton). The junior competed in four individual events and two relays and contributed 122 points all told. He earned All-PSAC honors thanks to third place finishes in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay. He capped his four-day tournament with a second-place showing in the 200-yard butterfly with a school-record time of 1:49.74. It was an NCAA B time, as well.

Retsch was fourth in the 200-yard IM and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke.
