THE MEET FACTS
Final Score:Â Case Western Reserve 176, Gannon 118
Location:Â Cleveland, OH
Date:Â November 8th, 2025
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Gannon fell to CWRU in dual meet action on Saturday. That, however, was not nearly the bulk of the excitement from Saturday's event. A school record was shattered, one was tied, and a new Golden Knight achieved an NCAA B-Cut time during the course of the event.
THE KNIGHT CAP
-
Records Tied: The A-relay of Juliana Romero (Bogotá, Columbia/Colegio pureza de Maria) Castro, Maria Valcheva (Sofia, Bulgaria/Sports School Vasil Levski), Hailey Wills (Cleves, Ohio/Seton), and Mariia Melnyk (Kyiv, Ukraine/Education Center Optima) opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay in 3:53.87, edging Case Western Reserve by seven-hundredths of a second. That mark tied the school record for best time in that event.Â
-
Record Broken: Mariia Melnyk (Kyiv, Ukraine/Education Center Optima) achieved Gannon program history on Saturday. Swimming the 100 freestyle, she clocked a time of 50.80, an NCAA B-Cut time, and a Gannon school record.Â
-
Mariia's Big Day: Melnyk swept the 100 back (57.46) in addition to the 100 free (50.80) with strong opening speed and controlled closing splits.
-
Other Victories: Elisa Armentia Moliner won the 500 free in 5:14.58, closing the final 100 with the fastest split in the field.
