ERIE, Pa. –
Bator Mohacsi (Budapest, Hungary/), a member of the men's water polo team, and
Maria Valcheva (Sofia, Bulgaria/Sports School Vasil Levski), a standout on the women's swim team, have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of November 24. This marks the 12th week honoring Gannon's Student-Athlete of the Week and encompasses events through Sunday.
Mohacsi was a standout in goal for the Golden Knights in the WWPA Championship tournament this past weekend. Playing two games, the sophomore goaltender recorded 21 total saves, including a nine save and three steal performance in the semifinals against Biola.
Mohacsi was named to the All-WWPA Tournament First Team.
Meanwhile, Valcheva was an instrumental part of the women's swim team success at the Malone Invite this past weekend. The sophomore took home victories in the 200 yard breakstroke, as well as the 100 breaststroke the day before.
She was also part of the 400 medley relay team that claimed gold in 3:54.26, less than a second off the school record.
