Hurst, Mateo Named Gannon Student-Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Ty Hurst (Tallmadge, Ohio/Tallmadge), a member of the football team, and women's golfer Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 12. This marks the sixth week honoring Gannon's Student-Athlete of the Week and encompasses events through Sunday.
 
Hurst enjoyed a record-setting day in Gannon's 48-46 loss to Clarion. A former Golden Eagle, he haunted his former teammates, accounting for six touchdowns. The redshirt sophomore quarterback threw for five TDs and ran for a sixth, tying the school record for touchdown passes. He completed 20-of-28 passes for 424 yards, the third-highest single-game total. He added 32 yards rushing for 456 total yards, ranking fifth all-time. He even served as Gannon's punter, with one punt for 60 yards.
 
The Gannon women's golf team wrapped up its fall campaign hosting the Michael Corbett Fall Invitational. The Golden Knights claimed the team title for the fourth straight year in a field of 10 teams. Mateo, a junior from Spain, captured medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 148, 4-over par. She had an opening round 75 followed by a 73 on day two to win by a stroke. The 73 included three birdies.
