Gannon men's soccer defender
Jensen Peake (Staffordshire, England/) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Defensive Athlete of the Week after anchoring a Golden Knight back line that allowed just one goal across two matches and extended the team's unbeaten conference streak to four.
Peake was a dominant presence on both ends of the pitch during a 1–0–1 week for the Golden Knights. He helped Gannon post a 4–0 road shutout at Slippery Rock, leading a defensive unit that held the Rock to just two shots on goal. He also contributed offensively in the victory, netting his first two goals in a Gannon uniform to help secure the team's second PSAC West win of the season.
In Saturday's 1–1 draw versus Lock Haven, Peake and the Golden Knight defense limited one of the league's top-scoring teams to just a single goal on 10 total shots. Through the week, Gannon's defense allowed only one goal and eight shots on target, while the Knights outscored opponents 5–1 and continued their unbeaten run in conference play.
Behind Peake's efforts, Gannon improved to 4–2–4 overall and 2–0–2 in PSAC West action, remaining among the top teams in the divisional standings.
The honor marks the first PSAC weekly award of Peake's career and the third PSAC weekly honor the men's soccer program has received this season.
