Women's Water Polo to Play Four at VMI Invite

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's water polo team begins week two of the season with a second straight tournament. The Golden Knights travel to Lexington, Va. to compete in the VMI Invite. They will play two matches on Saturday, February 1 then two more on Sunday, February 2.

Head coach Zarko Sadikovic's team opens the tournament at 12 noon on Saturday against host VMI. The Keydets will be playing for the first time. That's followed by a 6:00 p.m. match vs. Saint Francis (Pa.) (2-1).

Sunday's opening match finds Gannon facing Bucknell (2-1) at 10:40 a.m. They wrap up the tournament with a rematch against Mount St. Mary's. The two met last week in the Wildcat Invite with the Mounties defeating Gannon 16-7.

Gannon ended the Wildcat Invite at 0-4 while playing four Division I teams. Despite the losses Sadikovic was pleased how his young team responded and how competitive they were early in the season.

Molly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria), a junior, led Gannon last weekend with nine goals and three assists for 12 points. Freshman Brigid Carmody (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) added six goals and four assists for 10 points. Jade Strickland (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) also scored six goals along with an assist. The senior now has 142 career goals.

Molly Sebunia (Erie, Pa./McDowell) saw most of the action in goal. The senior finished with a 14.46 GAA.
