ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman Emily Bowers (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) placed 34th among 256 runners while leading the Gannon women's cross country team at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday morning.
 
Bowers was one of three Gannon runners to finish among the top 75 as the Golden Knights placed 11th among 22 teams on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan University.  Gannon finished with 316 points. Division I Cornell won the team race with 18 points, including nine of the top 10 finishers.
 
Bowers finished in a time of 19:16.8. Fellow freshman Alexis Abbett (Sharpsburg, Pa./Aquinas Academy) placed 51st in 19:47.1. The GU duo continued their fine freshman season as both have finished either first or second among Gannon runners in all three meets that GU has run.
 
Elissa Scheel (Medina, Ohio/Highland) placed 75th in a time of 20:11.4, followed by  Taylor Friello (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) (124th, 21:11.1) and Brooke Wissinger (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) (133rd, 21:21.0).
 

What's ahead:

Gannon will close the regular season with a road trip to Illinois. The Knights will run in the Lewis Crossover Invite in Romeoville, Ill., on Oct. 12.
