Kotskar Named WWPA Offensive Player of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Gannon University's Alexandros Kotskar (Voula, Greece/Athinaiki Agogh) has been named the WWPA Offensive Player of the Week. The Western Water Polo Association announced its weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon. It's the second time he has earned the award. He was recogmized in 2023, as well.

A junior from Voula, Greece, Kotskar led the Golden Knights to three wins in four matches while playing in the Salem Open. Gannon improved to 5-2 with the strong showing in Morgantown, W.Va.

Kotskar contributed 13 goals in all. That included the tying and go-ahead goals in the fourth quarter as the Golden Knights rallied for a 15-14 win over LIU. He scored twice in 32 seconds midway through the period to give Gannon the lead for good at 13-12.

Kotskar finished with three goals in the win over LIU, adding four goals vs. Mount St. Mary's plus three goals against Johns Hopkins and Toronto.
Gannon returns to action this weekend. The Golden Knight play Wagner in the Bucknell Invitational on Friday, September 19, then have four more matches as part of the Erie Invitational on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.
