Women's Lacrosse to Host Slippery Rock for Morgan's Message Game

ERIE, Pa. -- With two home contests remaining in its 2024 campaign the Gannon women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, April 24, when they host Slippery Rock in its Morgan's Message game. Game time is set for 4:00 pm inside McConnell Family Stadium.

Head Coach Jennifer Pawlowski has guided the Golden Knights squad to a deceiving 4-9 record. They come in at 2-6 in PSAC West action and are looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

The Rock, led by third-year head coach Taryn Burkholder hold an overall 10-3 record and currently sits in third-place of the PSAC West with a 6-2 record.

Gannon last played on Saturday morning, dropping a 17-8 decision to Lock Haven who currently sits in second place in the PSAC West standings with a 7-2 mark. Slippery Rock dropped an overtime 11-10 heartbreaker to first-place Seton Hill on Saturday, as well.

The Rock posted an 18-6 win over the Golden Knights in the first meeting of the season on April 3. They held a 38-12 advantage in shots as 10 different players each tallied a goal.

As a team, Gannon is averaging 11.29 goals per game, while Slippery Rock is tallying 14.62 goals per game and holding opponents to only 8.77 goals.

Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) leads Gannon on the offensive side with 35 goals and seven assists on the year. Stevens currently sits eighth in the PSAC averaging 2.92 goals per game She also has snagged a team-high 79 draw controls.

The Rock is led by Lauren Searles who has 32 goals this season with nine assists. Charleigh Rondeau leads the PSAC in the draw circle with 119 draw controls

Gannon will host its final home game of the season when rival Mercyhurst comes to town on Tuesday, April 30. Game time is set for a 4:00 pm start.
