SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Gannon baseball team will try to put Saturday's doubleheader in the past as it heads home for a second doubleheader with Slippery Rock in two days on Sunday.

The Rock had its pitching and defense in high gear on Saturday as it swept Gannon 5-2 and 17-1 at SRU's Critchfield Park.

Gannon's record dipped to 6-27 overall and 4-14 in the PSAC West. Slippery Rock upped its record to 22-11 overall and 12-6 in the PSAC West.

Game 1, By the Numbers:

Nick Harhai's (West Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) relief effort was the highlight of the day for Gannon after Slippery Rock scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning. Harhai, a redshirt junior right-hander, entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched three scoreless innings to keep the Golden Knights in the game. He struck out three and walked none.
Matt Graeber (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillan) (1-2) made the start for Gannon and took the loss.

Brendan Koroly (Mars, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) drove in Gannon's first run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning.
Reece Colvin (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) plated the second run with an RBI season in the fifth.

Alex Bemis (Monroe, Ohio/Monroe),
Justin Kerestes (Loves Park, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic), and
Dom Costello (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) also had hits for the Knights.

Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy),

Joey Fazzone (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) all had hits in the Golden Knights' six-hit effort.

Vega added to his Gannon-record stolen base total as he registered the 73rd steal of his career.

Kevin Schott (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) (0-3) started for Gannon and was among four pitchers to appear.
Ashton Wheelock (Ashtabula, Ohio/Lakeside) entered the game in the sixth inning and retired three of the four batters he faced.

For Slippery Rock, Cam Panyko Morris had four hits and Gage Gillott had three hits and four RBIs. Nate Malak (3-0) earned the pitching win with a complete-game effort for The Rock.
