Petersen Named PSAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for Fourth Time

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference today announced its golfers of the week with Gannon's Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) being named the PSAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week. It's the fourth time she has received the honor, and the third time this spring. The junior was also selected once in the fall.

Petersen led the Golden Knights to a second-place finish in the Gannon Spring Invitational at Whispering Woods Golf Course this weekend. Gannon finished 12 strokes back of Ashland and 18 strokes ahead of third-place Franklin Pierce.

A windy, rainy and cold first round produced high scores and Petersen found herself seven strokes out of the lead in a tied for tenth place after shooting an 81. With conditions better on Sunday she came back to fire a 2-under par 70 to climb into second place with a two-day total of 151 (+7). She finished with six birdies – three on each nine – as she shot 2-under 34 on the front nine and even-par 36 on the back to finish with 70.

Gannon now prepares to defend its title in the PSAC Championship on Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28. The Golden Knights are in search of their fifth straight PSAC crown.
