Petersen places 3rd in individual standings as Gannon finishes 4th in Sea Trail tourney

Ditte Petersen shoots even-par round on Day 2

SUNSET BEACH, N.C.Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) paced Gannon by placing third as the Gannon women's golf team opened the spring season with a fourth-place finish in the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Spring Golf Tournament.

Petersen, a junior, shot an even-par 72 on Friday on the Sea Trail Maples course as she finished with a two-day total of 4-over 148. Petersen had four birdies over a five-hole stretch on Friday as she birdied Nos. 8, 9, 11, and 12.

Gannon, meanwhile, finished with a two-round score of 631 in the team standings as it finished behind champion Franklin Pierce (624), runner-up Northern Michigan (625) and third-place Ohio Dominican (626).

Senior Ana Maestro (Seville, Spain/Albaydar) tied for 12th place after shooting a pair of 79s for a 158 total. Senior Sarah White (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) tied for 16th with a 162 (79-83). Junior Andrea Martinez (Tarragona, Spain/Col·legi Vedruna Sagrat Cor), freshman Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola), and sophomore Zoey McClain (Erie, Pa./McDowell) tied for 20th with identical scores of 166.
 

What's ahead:

Gannon will return to action next weekend when coach Scott Stano's Golden Knights compete in the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invite on March 16-17 in Georgetown, Ky.
