Petersen Leads Golden Knights after Day One at Sea Trail Spring Golf Tournament

Golden Knights tied for second after 18 holes

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – The Gannon women's golf team rallied late to pull into a tie for second place after the opening round at the Sea Trail Spring Golf Tournament. The Golden Knights are debuting in the 2024 portion of the season, with the tournament being played at the Sea Trail Maples course. The nine-team field will play another 18 holes on Friday beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Northern Michigan holds a three-stroke lead over Gannon and Franklin Pierce, finishing at 311 (+23). Gannon and Franklin Pierce came in at 314 (+26), one stroke ahead of Ohio Dominican.

Kesinee Prukmathakul of Franklin Pierce is the leader following 18 holes after finishing with an even-par 72. Alyssa Yaggie of Northern Michigan is second following an opening-round 73.

Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) leads Gannon's golfers after day one. The junior sits in a tie for seventh after firing a four-under par 76. She finished with a 36 over the first nine holes but had an up-and-down back nine, finishing with a 40. Her round included four birdies.

Sarah White (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Ana Maestro (Seville, Spain/Albaydar) are tied for 11th after finishing at seven-over 79. White rallied from a 41 on the front nine to shoot 38 on the back nine. Maestro had a similar 41-38 card. Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) is tied for 14th (80).
