Petersen Tied for Sixth, Gannon in Sixth in Team Standings after Day One of Saginaw Valley Spring Invite

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Gannon women's golf team sits in sixth place in a very strong field at the Saginaw Valley Spring Invite after the first day of competition. A total of 14 teams are competing at Cherry Blossom Golf Course.
 
McKendree leads by nine shots after 18 holes with a score of 296, 3-over par. Ferris State is second at 17-over 305 while Tiffin is third at 310 (+22). Gannon finished with a total of 318 (+30).
 
Three players are tied for first in the individual competition with a score of even-par 72. They include Danielle Staskowski, Ferris State and Davenport teammates Lauren Gervais and Kelsey Malone.
 
Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) leads Gannon with a 2-over par 74, good for a tie for sixth. The junior fashioned a very consistent round with 37 on the front and 37 on the back. She had a pair of birdies and two bogeys.
 
Gannon's next two golfers on the leaderboard are actually playing as individual. Zoey McClain (Erie, Pa./McDowell) is tied for 14th after a 5-over par 77 in her opening round. Victoria Colmenares (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/ICL Academy) also came in under 80 with a 7-over 79 (+7).
 
The teams will return to the course on Sunday to wrap up the tournament with 18 more holes.
