ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon men's water polo team will wrap up the regular season and WWPA conference action on Saturday, November 9, competing in the WWOA Bearcat Classic. McKendree is hosting the three-match round-robin event at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.

Gannon plays in the final two contests, meeting Salem at 12 noon and McKendree at 4:00 p.m. Salem recently ended the Golden Knights' seven-game winning streak, handing them a 20-12 defeat. That occurred in the WWPA Erie Classic. Gannon defeated McKendree 17-12 in that same tournament.

The Golden Knights have won nine of their last ten contests and come in with a 14-4 record. The 14 wins are the most since the 2021 team finished at 14-10.

Freshman Nikiforos Liantziris (Athens, Greece) was named the WWPA Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after leading the Golden Knights to wins over Penn State Behrend and Washington & Jefferson last weekend. He leads the Golden Knights with 43 goals and a team-high 34 assists for 77 points.

Petar Markovic (Belgrade, Serbia), a sophomore from Serbia, adds a team-leading 56 goals plus 14 assists for 70 points. Junior Alexandros Kotskar (Voula, Greece/Athinaiki Agogh) comes in at 45 goals and 13 assists for 58 points.

Alvaro Marco (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) is winding down an impressive career in goal. The senior has a 10.08 GAA and .506 save percentage.

Following this weekend's WWPA Bearcat Classic the Golden Knights will compete in the WWPA Championships on November 22-24. Biola is hosting the NCAA-qualifier tournament in Irvine, Calif.
