The Gannon University women's swimming team opened the 2024-25 campaign with a 160.5 – 76.5 loss to host Clarion on Friday evening at Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium.
The meet also featured the debut of first-year head coach Milan Medo, who previously served as the head coach at Notre Dame (Ohio.)
Despite the season opening loss, the Golden Knights accumulated 13 PSAC-qualifying times, including four earning PSAC marks in two events. That includes
Chenay Date Line (Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford College Sandton) (200 free, 500 free);
Roaa Farag (Heliopolis, AE/Nermin Ismail) (200 free, 500 free);
Isabella Dietz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (200 free, 100 free); and
Hannah Jacobs (Johannesburg, South Africa/) (200 IM, 100 fly).
Chenay Date Line (Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford College Sandton) and
Chinyere Mgbemena (Harare, Zimbabwe/Eaglesvale) led the Golden Knights each collecting first place finishes in their races. Date Line swam at 1:59.00 during the 200 freestyle, while Mgbemena won the 100 breaststroke in 1.11.63.
Gannon returns to action on Friday, October 25 with its first home meet. The Golden Knights will host RIT at 5:00 p.m. at the Carneval Pavilion of the Recreation and Wellness Center.
