Following its first dual win of the season, the Gannon women's swimming and diving team is set to open its 2024 slate on Saturday, Jan. 13. against PSAC rival Edinboro at McComb Fieldhouse. 
 

Last Time Out (vs. IUP, Dec. 3)

Led by Sterre van de Goor's (Oss, Netherlands/Sint-Joriscollege) first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:46.02) and 500-yard freestyle (5:19.76), and five other first-place marks, the GU women's swimming and diving team earned its first dual victory of the season over IUP, 149-147, at Pidgeon Natatorium.

Chenay Date Line (Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford College Sandton) (200 freestyle, 1:59.76), Emily Hedges (Peachtree Corners, Ga./St Pius X Catholic) (200 butterfly, 2:13.83), Hannah Jacobs (Johannesburg, South Africa) (100 butterfly, 1:00.87) all won races, while Kyla Miller (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) (1-meter, 215.55) added a diving win to contribute to the Golden Knight team victory.
 

Last Year vs. Edinboro: Gannon 145, Edinboro 78

The Golden Knights won eight of 12 events, including two school-record wins by van de Goor (1,650 freestyle, 17:49.43) (500 freestyle, 5:14.64), as Gannon celebrated Senior Day by defeating the Fighting Scots at Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool.

Leilani Kunf (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport Area) (200 backstroke, 2:12.92), Isabella Dietz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) (200 medley, 2:14.03), Nomvula Mjimba (Harare, Zimbabwe/The Wykeham Collegiate) (100 freestyle, 54.61), and Kyla Miller (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) (1-meter, 207.15) led Gannon finishing first in their respective contests.
Gannon's 400 medley relay (4:02.39) and 200 freestyle relay (1:39.73) also emerged victorious to help push the Golden Knights to a victory.
 

Women's Swimming and Diving enjoying a strong season

Freshman Emily Hedges (Peachtree Corners, Ga./St Pius X Catholic) set a school record in the 200 butterfly at the Magnus Cup with a time of 2:06.45. That figure is currently ranked 39th in Division II. In addition, Katie Reott owns an NCAA B time in the 50-yard freestyle. She posted her time of 23.78 in the Magnus Cup.

The PSAC Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for Feb. 14-17, at the Keystone Aquatic Center in Carlisle, Pa., with 19 members of the Golden Knight team posting PSAC qualifying times to this point.

The women's swimming and diving team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20, when Gannon travels to Carlisle to compete in the Keystone Invitational.
