Women's golf team places 2nd at 14-team Ohio Dominican tourney as 4 Golden Knights stand out

Two freshman, two veteran players finish among top 10 in individual race

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Gannon women's golf team turned in another strong round of golf on Sunday in the second and final round of the Ohio Dominican University Champions of Women's Golf Fall Classic.

However, Ohio Dominican turned in a stronger round on Sunday and pulled out a two-stroke victory as Gannon placed second in the 14-team tournament. It was the second consecutive second-place finish for the Golden Knights, who also finished as the runner-up in the season-opening University of Charleston Invitational.

After tying a program record with 299 on Saturday, Gannon shot 305 on Sunday to finish with 604.

For the second straight day, a pair of freshmen and two veterans turned in outstanding performances for the Knights as four GU golfers finished among the top 10 in the individual race among 90 golfers.

Freshman Victoria Colmenares (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/ICL Academy) shot a 76 on Sunday after an opening-round 73 as she tied for third place among 90 golfers with a 149.

Gannon junior Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) placed sixth with 151 after carding a 77 on Sunday. Senior Sarah White (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and freshman Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) tied for ninth place with 152. White shot a 77 in the final round, while Mateo led all Knights on Sunday with a 75.
