COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five players shot rounds in the 70s on Saturday as the Gannon women's golf team took the lead through the first day of the Ohio Dominican University Champions of Women's Golf tournament.
For the second straight tournament, Gannon matched a program record by finishing with a team score of 299. The Golden Knights closed the round with a two-shot lead over the host school, Ohio Dominican, (301) in the 14-team tournament. Third-place Walsh (304) trailed Gannon by five shots.
Freshman
Victoria Colmenares (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/ICL Academy) shot a 3-over-par 73 to lead Gannon on the 5,626-yard, par-70 layout at Champions Golf Course. She is tied for fourth place among 90 golfers in the individual race.
Two veteran standouts were right behind Colmenares. Junior
Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) continued her final play with a 74 and is in sixth place. Senior
Sarah White (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) added 75 and is tied for seventh.
Freshman
Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) shot 77 and junior
Andrea Martinez (Tarragona, Spain/Col·legi Vedruna Sagrat Cor) added a 79.
