ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team will take a break from the rigors of PSAC action to play its final non-conference match on Sunday, March 26. The Golden Knights will host D'Youville in a 5 p.m. at Mercyhurst University's Saxon Stadium.

Gannon is now 1-6 following a 15-4 loss at No. 22 Seton Hill on Wednesday. D'Youville comes in riding a three-game winning streak after losing three straight contests. The Saints last played on Saturday, March 18., posting an 18-3 win over District of Columbia. They have dominated the competition during the three-game winning streak, outscoring the three opponents by a combined 49-5.

The Golden Knights staged one of their biggest wins since Jennifer Pawlowski took over as head coach in 2019 and one of the best rallies in a number of years on March 18. Playing in frigid conditions with snow flurries falling in the second half, Gannon overcame a 10-4 deficit to hand Lock Haven a 14-13 defeat.

McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) led the way with a career-high seven goals, including the tying goal with 8:36 remaining and the winning goal a minute later. The Gannon defense and goalie Riley Finnegan (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) did the rest, holding the Bald Eagles without a goal for the final 24-plus minutes of the match.

For her efforts Woodworth was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week. She scored two goals in Wednesday's match at Seton Hill and has climbed back into the team lead in scoring with 17 goals and two assists for 19 points. The junior was the 2021 PSAC West Freshman of the Year and now has 97 career goals.

Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) adds nine goals and a team-high six assists for 15 points, while Macy Hepditch (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) has 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. Hepditch missed the Seton Hill match after suffering an injury against Lock Haven.

Pawlowski has used Finnegan and Haleigh Manning (Milton, Ga./Cambridge) in goal this year. Finnegan played the final 43:22 against Lock Haven and finished with eight saves while allowing five goals. Manning went the distance vs. Seton Hill and finished with a career-high 15 saves. She now has a 15.82 GAA with 31 saves while Finnegan is at 16.82 GAA with 27 saves.

D'Youville features four players with double-digit goals, led by freshman Sam Newlin with 23 goals. Sydney Gordon and Madison Handley have 19 goals apiece, while Madison Buck has contributed 11 goals. Handley and Buck are also freshmen. Brinn Stworzydiak will likely be in goal. The sophomore has an 11.83 GAA with 76 saves.

Following the D'Youville match Gannon returns to McConnell Family Stadium to host Slippery Rock in a PSAC West match on Wednesday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m.
