SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team dropped its PSAC opener on the road Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 7 Slippery Rock, 24-2.
Slippery Rock built an early lead, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter and taking a 17–0 advantage into halftime.
The Golden Knights found the back of the net twice in the second half, with
Isabella Veltre (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) and
Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) each scoring.
Veltre finished with a goal and an assist, while Hunter added a goal and recorded three caused turnovers, three draw controls and three ground balls to lead Gannon offensively.
The Golden Knights totaled 11 shots in the contest and recorded 12 draw controls, while also picking up 11 ground balls.
