Gannon women earn All-PSAC mark in 400 freestyle relay, finish fourth overall at 2023 PSAC Championships

The 400 free relay quartet of Alex Pannemann, Nomvula Mjimba, Chenay Date Line, and Isabella Dietz earned third place in 3:31.83

YORK, Pa. – The Gannon University women's swimming and diving team concluded the 2023 PSAC Swimming Championships in fourth place overall in the team standings, improving on last year's fifth-place mark. The final session of the 2023 meet was highlighted by an All-PSAC third-place race by the women's 400 freestyle relay squad of Alex Pannemann (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley), Nomvula Mjimba (Harare, Zimbabwe/The Wykeham Collegiate), Chenay Date Line (Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford College Sandton), and Isabella Dietz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in 3:31.83.

Mjimba and Pannemann also competed in the 100 freestyle "B" final, with Mjimba earning 12^th place in 53.32 and Pannemann 14^th in 53.51. Date Line won the "C" final to finish 17^th place with a time of 53.43.

Senior Leilani Kunf (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport Area) ended her 2023 meet with an 11^th place finish (2:08.49) in the "B" final of the 200 backstroke, while freshman Hannah Jacobs (Johannesburg, South Africa) won the "C" final in the 200 breaststroke (time of 2:27.67.) Fellow first-year swimmer Dietz also competed in that race, touching the wall in 19^th in 2:28.47.

The pair of Sterre van de Goor (Oss, Netherlands/Sint-Joriscollege) and Madalyn Myers (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) put in excellent swims in the grueling 1650 freestyle, with van de Goor's 17:44.42 good for fifth place, and Myers' 17:47.42 from the morning session holding up to put her in the top eight with a seventh-place finish.

The Golden Knights totaled 728 total points for the 2023 meet to finish in fourth, the highest the team has been since the 2020-21 meet. Bloomsburg was just ahead of Gannon with 840 points, and above the Huskies was IUP (1033 points) and champion West Chester (1670 points.)
