SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Gannon University competitive cheer and dance team collected four first-place finishes for the second consecutive weekend.
The Golden Knights claimed top finishes in the Hip-Hop Dance, Game Day, Co-ed, and Dance Team Performance as the Red Hot Cheer and Dance Competition, which was contested at Slippery Rock University.
Coach
Kerri Makay's Gannon team also claimed four first-place finishes on Feb. 11 at Penn State Behrend.
Here's a look at each division:
Hip Hop: 85.59, uncontested.
"We received high scores in staging, skill execution and choreography," Makay said.
Game Day: 90.6, took first place over Penn State Behrend.
"The team hit zero today, which means there were no deductions," Makay said. "We received season high scores in the execution, skill incorporation and visual categories. We also won a special award for best cheer choreography."
Gannon Co-ed: 74.6 uncontested.
"We received high scores in jump, standing tumbling, running tumbling, and toss difficulty," Makay said.
Dance Team Performance: 87.87, took first over Penn State Behrend.
"We received high scores in competition of movement, elements and skills, and routine difficulty," Makay said. "We also received a special award for best dance choreography."
The Golden Knights will turn their attention away from competition for one weekend as they prepare for their performances in the Gannon-Mercyhurst basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25.
