DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Gannon University Competitive Cheer & Dance team put together a strong opening day at the NCA & NDA Collegiate Nationals, advancing both its Game Day and Team Performance squads to finals at the Ocean Center.
In the Game Day Division II preliminary round, the Golden Knights placed second out of six teams with a score of 85.98, finishing behind Dallas Baptist University (91.45).
With the result, Gannon secured a spot in the Game Day finals, set for Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m.
Gannon's routine was highlighted by a 9.40 execution score in the band chant and a 9.50 in Game Day visual, helping the Golden Knights deliver a strong performance on the national stage.
Later in the evening, Gannon's Team Performance squad earned a spot in the finals after finishing fifth out of nine teams with a score of 79.775, highlighted by an 8.38 in performance impression.
Gannon will compete in the Team Performance finals on Friday, April 10 at 8:00 p.m., with Hip-Hop prelims set for Friday morning at 9:27 a.m. as the Golden Knights continue competition in Daytona Beach.
