ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Gannon University women's swimming and diving team won four events, including a pair by senior
Sterre van de Goor (Oss, Netherlands/Sint-Joriscollege), and notched four runner-up finishes despite its 197-103 lost to RIT on Saturday afternoon.
Van de Goor touched the wall first in both distance freestyle events in the 1,000 and 500. She was timed in 10:42.21 during the 1,000 freestyle ahead of teammate Chenay Date Lane, who notched a time of 10:45.54 to help the Golden Knights secure the one-two finish in the event.
The Golden Knights had another one-two finish during the 500 freestyle as Van de Goor touched in 5:15.71 and senior
Madalyn Myers (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) swam a time of 5:22.46 to grab the second-place finish.
Myers also secured a first-place finish in the 400 IM, while freshman
Emily Hedges (Peachtree Corners, Ga./St Pius X Catholic) finished behind her in 4:49.80.
Hedges had another impressive outing as her time of 2:12.29 was good for first place mark in the 200 butterfly. Teammate
Francesca Nemetz (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) touched the wall right behind her to earn second place in 2:15.22.

The Golden Knights now begin to ramp up in preparation for the prestigious three-day Magnus Cup event at Cleveland State University from Nov. 16 to Nov. 18.
