2023 MAGNUS CUP, HOSTED BY CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY

The Gannon University women's swimming and diving team is set to compete in the prestigious 2023 Magnus Cup hosted by Cleveland State on Thursday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 18. The event is set for a 9 a.m. start time on all three days as the Golden Knights will be one of 12 institutions competing inside Busbey Natatorium.
Competing teams: Akron, Bowling Green, Canisius, Cleveland State, Florida Gulf Coast, Gannon, IUP, Niagara, Northern Colorado, Toledo, Tulane, Xavier
Last time out:
The Golden Knights' won four events and registered four runner-up finishes despite dropping its dual meet to RIT in the team's most recent meet on Nov. 4. Gannon was led by senior
Sterre van de Goor (Oss, Netherlands/Sint-Joriscollege) who secured a pair of distance victories in the 500-yard free (5:15.71) and 1,00-yard free (10:42.21). Her performance against the Tigers earned her PSAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the week honors.
Senior
Madalyn Myers (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) also secured a first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:45.36), while freshman
Emily Hedges (Peachtree Corners, Ga./St Pius X Catholic) who is off to an impressive freshman campaign notched a first place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:12.29).
Last year's Magnus Cup:
The women's swimming and diving team finished in 11th place at last year's Magnus Cup. Six Gannon swimmers advanced to the finals on the final day.
Akron captured its sixth Magnus Cup Invitational championship after compiling a team score of 1,532.5 points to secure the meet win in 2022.
