ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon men's water polo team returns to action after an almost three-week break with a trip to Maryland for a match at Mount St. Mary's on Friday, October 13, followed by a two-game swing to the Big Apple. The Golden Knights will face LIU on Saturday, October 14 then later in the day play at No. 17 Fordham.

The three-game road trip is all part of a hectic few weeks for the Golden Knights. Next week they head to other side of the United States to play a pair of contests in California against California Lutheran and Biola. That's followed by the WWPA Erie Classic hosted by the Golden Knights on October 28-29. Gannon will play three matches in the two-day period.

First-year head coach Zarko Sadikovic has guided the Golden Knights to a 5-2 start. That includes a 16-8 win over LIU at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational and a 13-9 loss to Mount St. Mary's in the Salem Invitational.

This weekend's three-game swing begins on Friday night with a 6:00 a.m. match at Mount St. Mary's. the Mountaineers handed Gannon its first loss of the season despite five goals and two assists from Alexandros Kotskar (Voula, Greece/Athinaiki Agogh).

It will be an early morning in New York City for the Golden Knights as they play at LIU at 8:30 a.m.  The 16-8 win earlier in the year featured a six-goal effort by Kotskar and three goals and three assists for Marty Kaverman Jr. (Erie, Pa./McDowell) They then travel to Fordham to face the 17th-ranked Rams in a 1:45 p.m. match.

Kotskar is off to a fast start after challenging the school record for goals as a freshman last year despite missing the final seven matches. He finished with 70 goals and was second in points with 93. He was an honorable mention All-MAWPC selection last year. In seven matches this season the native of Greece has 31 goals and nine assists for 40 points.

Kaverman is next with 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points, while Vladimir Mickic (Subotica, Serbia/Nikola Tesla) is also in double digits for goals with 12 along with a pair of assists. Matthew Harkrader has a team-high 10 assists.

After sharing time in goal the last two years Alvaro Marco (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) has taken over as the full-time goalkeeper. The junior has a 10.33 GAA with a .523 save percentage.
